Not one, not two, but THREE layers of paint on my trunk lid!
This whole trunk lid is a mess to say the least. I'll be replacing it at some point but it works for now.
We do have to take the passenger seat out tomorrow to see why the built-in sensor isn't sending a signal and throwig a code and the airbag light. Hopefully the sensor isn't shot because it's expensive and involves taking the seat nearly completely apart to replace.
We do have new front brake lines on now (which we need to rebleed, way to much pedal travel before anything happens) and are getting a swaybar link tomorrow so the only thing stopping us from passing now is the airbag light.

Christ, how does one even go about doing that?

Gives the car history and character.

Mask the badge when respraying. Or remove it and add it back when the paint isn't done. Something like that.

Not bad. Dude who needs passenger seats, get a dummy plug and go superlegerra style

Primer, Sealer, Topcoat, clearcoat. But that looks like OG paint, filler primer, PAINT

...Or proof it's been in an accident.
Character was the water we had to drill out of one of the tail lights! That gave it that destinc characteristic to it.

Did you just tear the badges off or did the previous owners paint the boot lid with the badges in situ?

I do, because I move three people around somewhat often and no one can sit behind me because zero leg room.

The badge was already off the car when I got it.
I think the first respray was done by covering the bad somewhat nicely, and the second one by just slapping some squares of tape over them.

My friend's M3 had a more scary thing. We used knives to get the single DIN head unit out, and we found a bunch of wires inside snipped clean. They were for something....and I think unplugging the head unit is easier

Tut tut tut. I hate it when people do a half arsed job.

Needs a sensor. Trust me. Unless it's just unplugged.
